GENERAL INFORMATION

The mySTEP Institute is designed to help learners take a step toward owning their education and futures. To do this, we provide multiple tiers of educational consulting services to high school students to meet their needs.  We are not a credit issuing school. For one thing, we work with learners to create personalized learning plans that include an integrated system of private consultation, direct support, group advising, interactive life skills seminars, college into career readiness program, experiential travel, excursions and college visits. Students with a membership have the ability to take college classes while in high school and/or utilize accredited, online classes for high school graduation.

Full membership at the mySTEP Institute is $895 monthly and has a $100 initial application fee.  There is a tiered system for students to choose which plan best fits their needs. Please see the pricing page for more details.

This excludes any promotions or discounts.

(Scholarships available)

The Institute is inclusive and is open to all types of students from public, private, charter, magnet, and home schools. Those finding the biggest benefit are the ones looking to break away from the standard educational system and seeking more flexibility in their courses and schedules through various educational vehicles. This includes students who are competitive athletes, performers, etc. looking to maximize their time and gain competencies in core subjects to focus on interests. We have sessions available for our clients looking for targeted support for college, life, and/or career opportunities.

Yes, in fact, the Institute leverages the homeschool law NRS 388D in consultations with families.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

ANYTIME!

Note: If qualified students are interested in taking advantage of dual-enrollment college courses, these are based on obtaining membership in time to meet college enrollment dates. So, sign up early!

The application process begins with completing the Inquiry Form

Full membership is for high school students only (ages 14 to 19 in grades 9-12).

The Institute offers tiered program options for middle school and college students, and adults.

EXTRACURRICULAR (SPORTS/CLUBS)

High school students with a full membership who chose the dual-enrollment/online, private school option do give up the traditional experience to some extent. These students can still attend traditional experiences with friends if the school permits. However, students at the Institute create their own new experiences through our seminars, excursions, and extended trips. Additionally, we provide our students under the tiered client options who may be enrolled in other high schools with the support, services, and personalized learning plan implementation.

No, however, under Nevada Law, students may petition their zoned school to participate in sports and other activities. Students (athletes, performers, entrepreneurs, etc.) find more freedom in their schedule to practice their craft by attending the Institute.

COLLEGE COURSEWORK

Yes, throughout 20 years of experience working with high school students taking college classes, students overall report doing better and being more focused in their college classes. They indicate they have more time to prepare and study and spend less time on irrelevant busy work.

Yes, students are completely integrated into real college classes with real college professors and students whether the college course is online or in person.

Our team of experienced professionals will host a start-of-the-year seminar to prepare all students personally, academically, and socially for college. Remember, it is the student’s personalized learning plan, so college courses can be postponed if the student is not ready to take college coursework.

Students will take classes at local colleges that can be in-person or online. Students can attend any of the College of Southern Nevada locations (Cheyenne, Charleston, or Henderson) or Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, Nevada State University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, or University of Nevada Reno following any exclusions outlined by the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Students are building a real college transcript and nearly all students’ college credits transfer to in-state colleges. Students who plan to transfer out-of-state are encouraged to contact the college of their choice first to see which credits transfer.

OTHER QUESTIONS
